ABOUT THE DOG
Reva is among the top-bred working retrievers in Australia. Her father is Red, and her mother is an American import, RTCh Watermarks N Farmers Little Darlin, brought over by Mr. G Tawton. Reva is genetically clear with an outstanding hip score of 1/1 and elbows of 0/0. She is an incredibly intelligent animal, a quick learner, and a joy to train.
Reva is a joyful dog, both in training and with her human family. She loves company, enjoys being active wherever she goes, and even likes watching dog training videos on TV!
Reva made her debut in the final trial of 2018, just two days after her first birthday! I was confident in her ability to compete in both Novice and Restricted. Reva excelled, having a fantastic start. She went on to win both levels with impressive scores. In Novice, out of a field of 32 dogs, she scored 173 out of a possible 180, dropping only 7 points. In Restricted, among 14 dogs, she scored 160.5 out of 180. Both competitions were outstanding, and I couldn't have been more pleased with such a young dog performing so well.
Reva had an excellent year, quickly achieving her Restricted title with three wins from five starts. We solidified our training and began preparing for All Age, making her debut in May. Reva did not disappoint; after five trials, she won her first All Age in Victoria from a field of 23 dogs. After moving to Queensland in 2020, we entered our first trial of the year. Reva started strong on the first run and maintained her performance over the next two runs.
We both made mistakes, but it was enough to secure a win in a very competitive field of older dogs. In just nine trials, Reva qualified for the title of Retriever Champion at the young age of 27 months.
2022 State Championships, she was in top form and marking well. Just over four years old, and despite missing two competition seasons due to Covid, she delivered an exceptional performance in the Queensland State Championships, not only winning but also receiving a Diploma of Merit (DM) for consistent performance throughout the competition. A few weeks later in NSW, she placed second in the lead-up State Championship to the National.
2023, Reva earned the title of 'Grand Retriever Champion' by securing enough wins over the season. Additionally, she received another Certificate of Merit for outstanding gun dog work. During the Championship season, she competed in five championships, finished four, placed in four, and was runner-up in the Australian National. Reva is following in her successful father's footsteps (Red Dog) in retrieving trials. We decided to continue running her through the season and then have her spayed. I am confident it was the right decision. Reva had unconventional living arrangements for the last ten months due to my wife and I relocating interstate and building a new home. She performed exceptionally well, placing second in the National and finishing third overall in the country.
2024 Reva went even further, competing in 15 trials and one State Championship. She had 13 finishes and 13 placements, with eight 1st places, one 2nd, and three 3rd. She was also runner-up in the Tasmanian State Championship, finishing 2nd overall in the country.
